Having a vision is the fundamental step to creating your dream life because without one, you find yourself just wandering aimlessly through life. This ultimately leads to an unfulfilling life where retirement becomes your only hope for some reprieve.

If you don’t feel energized in the morning or if you feel exhausted from your daily routine, it may very well be because you have not yet aligned yourself with your desired state of life, and that is totally okay.

The most important thing is at this very moment, you are aware that at some point, you need to declare and claim the dream life that makes your heart flutter and keeps your spirit full.

Have you ever stopped and really thought about what it is you want in life?

And though there’s no general reset button, you always have the power to edit and go to the direction that resonates with you.

How to know what you want in life?

On the surface, this seems quite an easy question to answer. Everyone would most probably have a readily available response to this question. Often, however, these are only a short-term improvement sought based on the current situation. This is a band-aid solution that would readily fall apart when things become challenging once again.

A temporary relief from the current conditions doesn’t usually translate to long-term fulfillment as your desires at present may not be aligned with what your spirit truly longs for.

By taking the time and making the effort to reflect on your spirit’s deep connections, you get a glimpse of the life that would fulfill you in the long run. This is the kind of life that you won’t get tired of because it doesn’t require any effort for you to live and thrive in.

This is the kind of life that cultivates your true alignment with the Universe, the source of all things.

The key to knowing what you want in life is simply determining the things that give you peace of mind. This may be financial, emotional or physical relief but the best starting point to having a clear vision is to assess the emotions that come up from thinking about these aspects.

It is also important to withhold any judgment about the objects of your desire for a wonderful life. This is easier said than done because as a human being, you have become accustomed to a set of acceptable ideologies when it comes to the type of life one must strive for. But remember, with the infinite possibilities in the Universe, anything really is possible.

If you feel a sense of joy or peace from ideas of your dream life, then they require no further assessment. This is now your next clue in completing the whole picture of the life you truly desire.

It is important to let your emotions serve as the compass that leads you to the right direction and your thoughts to serve as your anchor points for more clarity.

Journalling always helps.

Keeping a journal is an effective way to clear your mind with thoughts about different aspects of your life. This is no different when you want to determine your life vision.

When pondering on the things that give you joy or peace of mind, it will be beneficial to document your thoughts in a journal. Whether on a physical or digital journal, as long as you jot down your thoughts about your life’s vision, you are definitely on the right track.

Here are some examples of journal entries answering the prompt: “what do I want in life?”

You can also journal about the things you want to be improved in your current life situation.

If you notice, these journal entries are not about saving the world and being a hero. There’s no judgment if that’s where you see your life going but the most important step in determining what you want in life is to start where you are.

Don’t hold yourself back because of self-imposed judgment. Let your inhibitions go and treat yourself to a life-changing experience of thinking about what makes you feel good and excited.

Are you up for this challenge?

So go ahead, daydream about your dream life. Pay no mind to people who may think you are borderline delusional just because your current reality doesn’t reflect your desired state.
